Shayna is originally from the tiny town of McDade, Texas. Her love for wine education began during her undergraduate career at the University of Houston studying hospitality and beverage management and developed even further when she interned at The Texas Wine School in Houston.
There she met some amazing people who encouraged her to get her MSc (Masters of Science) in Wine Management from the Burgundy School of Wine and Spirits Business in Dijon, France. Upon return to Texas after her studies in Burgundy, Shayna crafted her thesis around the subject of wine education specifically in Texas. She began her own small education and consulting business and works freelance as there is availability in our current climate.
She is also currently working full time with Twin Liquors in Austin to learn the retail side of the business as one day she would like to earn the Master of Wine title and have her own education center and retail store. Shayna holds an Advanced Certificate (Level 3) from the Wine and Spirits Educational Trust (WSET). Some of her favorite things include dry sherry, breakfast tacos, and working out.
