Inspired by the wildly popular #ShareTheMicNow campaign, #ShareTheMicNowTX is a Texas-based digital initiative that shines an important light on the need for greater support, opportunities and amplification of black women in the Lone Star State. White women with influence and/or a strong social media presence, also known as Amplifiers, are invited to use their individual platforms to amplify black women’s voices, tell their stories, and unite with a common bond of sisterhood in their business endeavors.
Following the tumultuous events that have occurred over the last couple of months in Black communities across the nation, #ShareTheMicNowTX offers a unique opportunity for statewide unity and a much needed focus on Black women’s lives, stories, and impact.

Matched into pairs by the campaign’s organizing team, White women, or Amplifiers, will use their Instagram profiles to amplify her Black counterpart via an Instagram Live or actually handing over their account to the their Amplified match for a designated period of time. Why? To introduce the featured black women in the campaign to a much broader audience. We want to leverage the reality that when the world listens to women, it listens to White women leaving Black women’s voices to be marginalized despite centuries of calling for change.
For too long, Black women’s voices have gone unheard, even though they’ve been using their voices loudly for centuries to enact change,” the post continued. “Today, more than ever, it is NECESSARY that we create a unifying action to center Black women’s lives, stories and calls to action. We need to listen to Black women.”
